“So…what’s your plan?”
This is my favorite question to ask people when I first meet them…catches ‘em off guard. Most people don’t have a clue what I’m asking…for most of my life I didn’t either!
What I came to realize is that if we don’t plan our lives and get direction, we will not act, but instead merely react to whatever life throws at us. Without a plan, we live life according to the demands of others, not by our conscience design…and certainly not by God’s plan.
For the majority of my adult life I didn’t have a master plan. I didn’t know if I was walking in God’s will for me or not! I just went to work, did what I thought I should do and did the same thing the next day. I wish someone would have taught me early on how to hear from God, act on a vision and create a plan…oh…maybe I wasn’t open to that!
Check out the picture at the top of this page…that’s my family…awesome! Without a plan and direction in my life I’m affecting them…and I just can’t have that. Ask me what I do? I’m a husband and a dad first. It hasn’t always been that way, but I know now that it’s what matters most…by far! Ask me what I do for a living? Well the answer is a bit more colorful…
So…Brief Story
I graduated from college and began practicing chiropractic in the early 1990’s. I was an associate doc who worked long hours for next to no money. It’s true that many professions eat their young…I was determined to change that. One of my buddies from chiropractic school teamed up with me, and we decided to form a company that gave young docs a chance! We began to open clinics locally and allowed docs to buy them from us, so they could realize their own dreams. Seven years later we were all over the country.
After some serious soul searching, I realized that I wasn’t acting on God’s plan for me, but I was uncertain about how to connect with Him. I sold my interest in the business and took some time to see what was next…still with no plan!
Over time, the buzz around my previous business success led me to consulting and launching a few start-up businesses. That worked out well, and my wife and I experienced even more business success and good fortune than before. But we were about to realize tremendous business failure!
Boy did I learn the hard way what happens when you don’t seek the Lord on a daily basis. Pride sneaks in; independence takes over…it happens fast. It’s true that “pride comes before the fall”! I’ll be sharing much more of this period of my life within blog posts.
I can tell you first hand that God delivers! God transforms you, and God restores! He will save any sinner who turns and runs to Him. Once I began seeking His presence and not his presents I began to hear from Him and step out in faith in His plan for my life.
So what do I do for work now?
Encourage, coach, mentor, build relationships and assist in growing businesses and lives. My wife and I currently own and co-manage a marketing /consulting firm that helps bring massive abundance to the companies across the country that we have the privilege to serve. She refers to me as the CEO; Chief Envelope Opener. According to her, this is my most valuable asset to the company…opening mail!
You know what I’ve discovered along the way?
The more committed I became to God and to seeking His face, the more he led me, and helped me to create a career that I love doing…His plan! Has it been easy? Not a chance. Has it been worth it? Every minute, every episode and every detail.
I’ve fallen flat and failed as much as anyone out there, but I’ve grown through it all. I’ve learned that the only time we fail is when we give up…never give up! I know that God will do “super-abundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask, dream, desire or hope for!”
I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to speak, coach, write and blog. My first book is in the works, and I’ve had the privilege of sharing the God’s Life Plan products that have been created.
My hope is that by sharing my life experiences I can shorten the learning curve for all of you that stumble on this blog. If you gain even one insight from my experiences , it’s all been worth the effort. I want to hear from you too so please comment often! God is not finished with any of us yet…so let’s grow together!
Let’s get rockin!
